Supersymmetry
Byron School of Art Project Space
October - November 2018
Tweed Regional Gallery Annex - M|Arts
May - April 2019
The inherent beauty of physics as expressed by Frank Wilczek in an On Being Podcast interview with Christa Tippett prompted the title of this work. Intrigued by the Nobel Prize winner expressing a belief in God, I began investigating theories of Quantum Physics in relation to human consciousness and creative process as a spiritual practice.
The installation was titled Supersymmetry on completion. This allowed the creative process to weave it’s mysterious magic while I intuitively responded to the materials in space, place and time. The work was installed a second time at The Tweed Regional Gallery’s Annex space at M|Arts in Murwillumbah, NSW. Each of the two works presented differently as I actively responded to the site while threading a constellation of tacked points and securing whippens salvaged from a discarded flood damaged piano.
